Babies Sleep

The Gentle Approaches

Babies sleep approaches vary.  I was just like you once.  I really wanted to find a ‘gentle way’ to help my baby sleep.  I have to say I tried all of these books.  I started with following many of the ideas in Dr. Sears books which advocates co-sleeping.

I was pretty upset to find that I couldn’t sleep with my baby.  I found I only ever went into a very light sleep when he was in the bed with me and while he slept well, I unfortunately did not.

Babies SleepActually I found he slept much better when we moved him into his own room, but I didn’t do this until he was 10 months so I didn’t learn this one for a long time.

Then I tried the approach in the No-cry sleep solution.  I have to say that this also didn’t work for Jamie.  But I did get some lovely tips from this book, like introducing a ‘cuddly’ or security blanket when he was around 7 months.

At 20 months he totally associates this with his want for sleep.  If you find these approaches aren’t working for you then I suggest you move on to some of the
‘firmer’ approaches.

I wish you and your baby a good nights sleep.
