Baby Food Jar CraftsAre you interested in baby food jar crafts? Even though I made a lot of my sons' food for him when he was a baby, I still ended up buying the odd jar as well and I couldn't beleive just how quickly I ended up with a lot of them. He isn't eating food from baby jars anymore but I still have several in the kitchen as they are so handy. Most especially when you need to make a quick dressing and you can fill the jar and shake away and it is ready. They are also great for storing homemade garlic butter and other small amounts of food. There are many craft ideas for recycling those baby food jars. Have you thought about doing things other than crafts with baby food jars? Here is my favourite. Baby's First Toy - Baby Food Jar Craft Ideas This
would have to be my all time favourite use of those baby food jars. I have shared this idea with many of my friends and they have also said it was a complete hit with their baby. It is so simple. Simply
collect every lid off
every jar whether it is a baby food jar or the pasta sauce jar lid.
When
my baby was less than 7 months old he loved to hold the lids and bang
them together. He found out that they rolled and then he
began to stack them. They were perfect for his wee hand grip.Put them into the dishwasher and sterilize them. Then fill a big plastic jar with those lids. I buy my rice in a large plastic jar and this is perfect for collecting lids. At
around 7 months he began to put them one at a time back into the
plastic jar. At around 11 months he loved to tip the plastic jar over and try and tip all the lids out and then of course put them back in. When he was about 14 months he started using the lids to cook with. One of his favourite games was cooking. I would get my pots out and put them on the floor in a row with their lids on. Then I would help him fill each pot with lids and hand over the wooden spoons. Jamie would spend ages stirring each pot, putting the pot lids on and off.
Other days I would set up his plastic plates and cups and bowls. I would add his baby food jar lids to each one along with some of this wooden blocks and he would spend ages 'cooking'. At 21 months he is still playing with baby food jar lids. Here is a picture of him taken this morning sitting outside on our balcony. He had taken one of his tools outside with him and I think he was playing a 'dad's tool kit' game actually. We once borrowed a toy from a friend as Jamie loved playing with it so much at her house. When I asked her if there was a toy Jamie had that she wanted to borrow she said 'Actually could I have some of your baby food jar lids'. The most fun toys are usually free and in our house all along. Other Crafts With Baby Food JarsBaby Food Jar Crafts: Tea Light Candles
