Eric Carle Brown Bear![]() The book by Bill Martin and Eric Carle Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? I think this book is a must for every toddlers bookshelf. It has repetitive sentences perfect to maintain young children's attention. "Brown bear, brown bear what do you see?" The book introduces colours and animals together. The illustrations by Eric Carle use tissue paper and are big and bright. I started reading this book to my son when he was about 6 months old. At the age of 3 it is still one of his favourites. As a teacher of 5 year olds I love to introduce this book in the first month of school as the children quickly pick up the repetitive verse and begin reading the book by themselves. Teaching children to read with predictable books such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear is essential.
The art and language activites that stem from the book by Bill Martin and Eric Carle Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? The book starts out with "Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? I see a red bird looking at me." The next pages are "Red Bird, Red Bird what do you see? I see a X X looking at me." The book is an easy pattern book to duplicate in that you can substitute any animal or person to start your story as long as you include a color in the description. 40th Anniversary Edition
