Baby knitting is a wonderful and very personal gift to give to a new baby.  I think there is nothing more precious than seeing a new baby wearing gorgeous hand knits snuggled up in a hand knitted blanket.  You can almost see the time, love and energy that have gone into making each one.

In this age of polar fleece and organic cotton it seems more common to see a baby in a cotton wrap around cardigan and polar fleece blanket.  I loved that the hospital I had my baby in recommended he was taken home in a woollen cardigan.

Babies Knitting

My grandmother taught my mother to knit and she taught me.    This transference of skills from one generation to another is so essential to keep the wonder of knitting alive.   When I tell people I love to knit baby clothes they are often shocked that I know how.  The more lacy and complicated the babies knitting is the more fun I have.  I am really grateful to my mother for teaching me this wonderful skill and I adore knitting for my own baby and my friends babies.
